How do I move from factory labor type work to business type work?
Asked by neonland
I am 27 years old and have been in factory work since I entered the job market at 17yrs old. I have just finished my first year of college as an accounting student. I am eager to get away from my factory work and into just about any type of office enviroment(doesn't have to be accounting related). How can I do this? Everything on my resume with exception to my one year of schooling says that I am a factory worker. I have done exceedingly well in school with a 3.67 GPA last fall and a 4.0 GPA this spring. But it would appear that my resume scares people off as I don't even get a chance to sit for an interview and I am not really sure what types of office work I could actually do. Any suggestions or advice from anyone that has been in this situation before?

As an accountant, even a four year graduate (with no experience) is not worth much in the business field. I suspect you'll have to be patient and finish your degree before you'll be welcomed into a white collar job. If you're serious about accounting, I suspect you already know that you'll have to go well beyond a bachelor degree for many positions.
