Do you have any tips for a first time waitress?
Asked by Katie
I'm starting a new job as a waitress soon, and while I'm pretty confident I can learn quickly, I'm still kind of nervous. Any tips or advice? Thanks!

Sure! No problem in being a waitress and the best thing is serve with a smile even if it is not real dont overdo it. Then get the right tips of the day's menu from the chef .spell the dish name properly will be good if description is provided.Dont be busy running around the table .relax and be cool.

of course -get comfortable shoes -greet with a smile, always make eye contact -practice the saying the specials if you have to say them -bring drinks first -ensure silverware/napkins are on the table. ensure its a clean table -bring the condiments before or promptly after its served. -when bringing the drinks, make sure the glasses are clean, no lipstick marks, no things floating in the water -ask if the food is alright once they've had time to taste -also taste the food, so you know what to recommend if people ask -please don't ever leave a table alone for 15 mintues or more. ask the manager if you can give them free drink or an extra appetizer if the patrons are frustrated. -if there's something in the food, get the manager right away.

Smile, be polite and confident...even if your lost or confused never show them that. Don't stand around where they may be able to see you if your doing nothing or chatting. Make sure you have the bill all ready for them, weither it be seperate checks or a single check. Offer your daily specials as well as drinks and desserts-(This boosts the total cost of the bill, making your tip higher) Try to clear plates from the left with your left arm as well as drinks with your right arm on the right side. (So no envasion of personal space) And also remember to refill anything on the table, without them needing to ask for it. Just take it slow and you'll be fine.
