What are some great positions for a person, who is studying nursing?

What is a beneficial position for a person who is interested in the healthcare professions. I really want to learn alot, and alot of dental and medical assistant postitions require some kind of certification or liscense. The only jobs I can think of that I am eligible for is receptionist at a private office or as a pharmacy assistant? Could a student learn alot as a receptionist or pharmacy assistant?

I would recommend being a CNA cause it gets your foot in the door and it makes you sure if you want to do nursing or not. Plus it gives you a ton of experience and then when you are a RN you will appreciate your CNA's even more! I know I do now that I am a RN. Also almost all hospitals are very flexible with your schedule since they will know you are in school for nursing and they will want you to work for them when you graduate. Also depending on how much you work you may be able to get some tuition reimbursement from a hospital.
If you have already had clinicals for nursing you don't even have to do a CNA class cause you are experienced then. A lot of hospitals have it listed as a nurse externship or student nurse position. Good Luck to you!!

You can also be a medical assistant or if you wanted to go to the 2 weeks course - be a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) while you are learning. CNA's make pretty good money. You would learn being in that enviroment regardless of the position. Also look for internships/co-ops with the hospitals and doctor's offices in your area.

You have to be certified as a pharmacy assistant too. If you want to be in the health care field as a receptionist you will have to know about health insurance, referrals and how to call in prescriptions, medical terminology, ...etc. Medical offices are very hard to get into without schooling because of all the legalities. If you go to a vocational college you can graduate in less than 9 months sometimes 6 months! You can get a government grant and financial aid to help. Payments will be around 25.00 a month and only beginning after you graduate. Take the Certified Medical Assistant course and you will have the choice of front or back ofc. Take your internship with family practice so you will have that on your resume. M.A.'s starting salary in CA. is anywhere from 10.00 up to 20.00 an hr. depending on the city. You can also take off expenses for "scrubs" on your taxes. It is a very rewarding {career} not job.

You can also try working with the physically and/or mentally handicapped. You get alot of hands on experience working with wonderful people like that. Call your local Department of Health Services office and ask them for a list of places that help people like that.
