What should I know before getting into new auto sales?
Asked by red5jb
I'm getting out of my current sales career due to the heavy traveling. I'm going to drop off resumes to all of the high end automotive dealerships in the area.
Never being in this industry I was looking for some inside advice and info on just about everything....including commissions, sales quotas, terminology, etc. Being in outside sales for the last 8 years(since high school). I know I can sell anything thats out there because I do an excellent job of selling myself, the product just comes along for the ride. I just want to know as many of the facts, ups, and downs as possible before I jump in the water.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Are you honest, trustworthy, and somewhat brave? How are your ethics and your situational ethics? Are you a self starter and do you have a good work ethic? Suit up, show up, and follow through. Do you like to work for honest trustworthy people? Do you believe that people in general are liars and cheaters and liabilities or do you believe in the basic good in people and that they are assets to be valued? How's your overall attitude about yourself? Are you a half full or half empty kinda guy? Are you grateful to be alive and part of humanity? If you are on the positive side of these questions and aren't too greedy; a small family owned dealership(s) domestic or foreign who are active in all operations and have been in business for at least 20 plus years could be a good start. If they try and floorplan most of their inventory that's even better. Good luck & aDios
