I am a certified Medical assistant in FT WORTH TX. How do I find a job that provides more Patient care?

I currently have a job,and I love my patients most of whom are elderly, but theres too much office drama & paperwork,and not enough patient care for me. I also enjoy doing bloodwork.By far my patients are what make the job worthwhile! I already do bloodwork, so no certification is needed there.It is just a aspect of my job that I like. Im thinking about home health, or phlebotomy, but no pt care their...what are the pay rates for something like that?home health aide, unfortunatly I still have bills to pay.

No matter where you work in the healthcare field, there will be tons drama and tons of paperwork. If you don't want drama and paperwork.....stay out of a hospital.....it's double there. Believe me....been doing it (paperwork) and seeing it (drama) for 15 years. At home nursing would provide more patient care ina friendlier environment.....maybe.

Consider your local community college for additional training. You may be able to get a one year certificate in Phlebotomy or something similar.

If you like working with the elderly, try a local nursing home to see what your state regs are for certification.
I have been working with nursing home patients as a LPN for over20 years now, and like you detest charting, and would rather sit and talk to them !
You sound like you have the touch to be a nurse, think about that for a career move. Hard work, yes, but rewarding just to have a patient worry more about you than themselves!

Go back to school and get an RN license. Then you can do all the patient care you can handle. Also you will never be wanting for a job with all the nursing shortages. All you need is an associate of science in nursing and to pass the NCLEX. You can do it in 2 years and have a much better paying job. Good luck!

Apply for a position at a hospital has a phlebotomist. Hospitals pay more than clinics and you are guaranteed patient contact. I know because I have been there, done that. Good Luck!!!!
