Can any mental health experience be used for hours needed to get into Physician Assistant program?
Asked by *gYpSy*
I may get a B.A. in psych, then decide on a Master's degree in either psych or physician assistance. Physician assistant programs require that you have a LOT of hands-on patient hours, and on the other hand, having mental health experience might be needed to help me get into a grad program for psych (if that's what I choose). I want to cover myself either way.
Is there a way I can do something that relates to mental health and the type of hours needed to get into a PA program?
Thanks for any advice!

I believe it will work if you had patient contact. Look on some of the PA sites, some schools require hands on experience, others are more laid back about it. I also have a B.S. in psychology and thought about doing PA or masters in psychology, actually still deciding. Make sure you also have all the pre-reqs for PA school and get a great GRE score, then you should be good to go. Good luck!
