Avg Salary for Medical Office Assistant in Texas?

My mother is looking to start school for medical office assistant. Does anybody know the average salary for this position, hourly or annually? Specifcially in Texas area? Any pros/cons you can offer would also help.

Go to www.payscale.com. It will tell you the low and high range salary for any position you can think of for your State. It will ask you a series of questions before giving you the end result. This is the site I use when I need to determine salaries for new positions at my company.
