What does a carpenter actually do? Im 26 and need a career, I love houses and thought carpentry?

Carpenters do everything from "framing" a home to the actual finish work. Generally Carpenters use wood and steel studs based on Blueprints to actually build a home and cover it with wood. Its hard tough work....
try vocational aptitude tests at a vocational school they will then train you in an occupation that fits your aptitude.

Hiya babe.
I`m a carpenter,have been for many years,we carpenters basically do anything with wood from cabinets to trim ,from first fix to roofing (first fix means stud walls etc).
yes the pay is good nowadays because there is a shortage in skilled craftsmen or people in the building trade cause everyone went into computers at school but not many as needed into the building trade.
man or women can do this and its a trade that will remain as long as people need house`s.
usually takes a three year course to become one but the on-hands experience is just as important.
hours can vary from one job to another.
