You apply to get a 911 job just like you would any other. 911 centers will advertise any job openings on city websites and in newspapers. Any required training will be provided by the hiring agency, you don't need to get any yourself prior to getting hired.

my aunt does that, she had to call the police station in her area to find o ut what specific training they require so she could take classes. i know some counties have different requirements, best bet is to call the station and ifn out what they trainign requirments are. i think u have to sit for a civilians test as well.

As for the training you'll need it seems to me like a dispatcher would learn on the job as it is such a specialized occupation. I just did a search on our website at TeleportJobs for "dispatcher" and one came up in Orange, California. I'm not sure where you are located but if you're near Orange, CA you may want to give it a try.
