How much should I charge for baby-sitting?

I have two jobs coming up, and I want to know what the reasonable charge is. In a of couple days, I'm babysitting a 2-month old baby and and 1 1/2 year old girl. There hasn't been any talk of how much the parents are willing to pay, and as they are good family friends, I don't want to overcharge or seem greedy. What is a reasonable price that I should ask for? The second job is in about a month, and I'm going to be baby-sitting a fairly large group of kids (not siblings), ranging from 2 months to seven years old. The parents are offering me $50, and I am wondering if that is a fair amount to be paid, considering how many kids I'm going to be watching for at least three hours. And, as it is a church group for married couples (I'm watching their kids), I'm liable to taxation on whatever amount I get, because I have to fill out a certain form from the church. That's a lesser concern. I just need to know the reasonable prices for each of these situations and why. Thanks.

Hi. I am not sure how old you are or how much experience you have babysitting. I live in Houston, only have one child and we pay $7-10 per hour depending on the sitter. If the babysitter drives themselves to and from our home and it is on the weekend...$10 per hour. If I have to pick the sitter up and she is less experienced....$7. When I was a babysitter...I would charge $5 per hour for the first child and $2 per hour for additional children. Keep in mind that it is very difficult to find good, reliable babysitters...if you are experienced and the children like you...ask for what you are worth!!! If you have to pay taxes, add that into the fee.

You don't have to pay taxes on earnings under a certain amount. Since it is a church, I would take the $50, and print up some business cards to hand out to the parents when they come to pick up their kids for future business. As for the friends of your parents I would charge $8 an hour for the two kids.

No, you don't charge more for rich people and less for poor. Stupid answer. Where I am from it is $7 hour and $1.50 extra for every kid.

It depends what you are will to do, clean dishes, give child a bath, straighten up house, or even have a fun activity planed. Tell them that and see what they offer you. Good Luck

how long are you going to be watching the two kids? i would say $50 is a complete rip off for watching that many children and you have to take out taxes! when i use to baby sit i would charge $5 per child and $6 an hour! i know times are hard especially with gas high as hell,yet keep in mind you also have bills to pay! don't be afraid to negotiate!

Say something like $6.00 an hour because its a friend then see if they offer more or maybe on that night they will suggest an amount.
