Every job has its risk - what are the not so obvious risks of being a school bus driver?

I was a bus driver for many years. The job itself is a risk. You had 50 to 80 kids on the bus sometimes screaming. You have their lives in their hands when you hold that steering wheel. The risk that I found is if the bus is driven without the utmost care, that accidents will happen. People driving cars think they can beat the bus coming at them at 30 miles a hour. Then you have the kids that literally freak out and cry when you miss their bus stop. Parents call the office and complain that their child wasn't dropped off on time. And when you drop the child off, the parents come up to you and will show anger and tell you that your careless and irresponsible. A bus driver has to go through various tests each year to keep their license valid and up to date. But, if your trained by the right person and once you get experience on your own, and feel comfortable driving. You will learn how to deal with different parents and learn defensive driving. It was one of my most favorite jobs that I have ever had. It worked around my kids schedules when they were younger. Now, it interfers with their schedule, so I sadly had to give it up.

Just as a list I would think, upset or mad parents about the bus being late or early, having accidents, uncontrollable kids that start a mini riot. Having a child who is diabetic or epileptic go into a seizure. One child stabs another with a pencil. Someone catches the bus on fire. Tornado's (happened when I was in elementary school), hurricanes, snow, ice, high winds. However, when my mom was a senior in HS she drove a school bus and said she loved it.
