What is the average starting wadge of union painters?

I have my own handyman service (small just me) and I was offered to be placed in the union this summer by an owner of a HUGE comertial painting contractor after diong some work at his residance. I make inbetween 15.00 and 20.00 an hour. I was just wondering if that would be a good careir move or not. I don't know much about the union other than what I see on TV.
