Some hotels use software programs to handle "talent management." This software enables them to create and publish job postings and will also manage incoming applications for each position. Based upon the way that you answered the online application, the system assigns a score to your inquiry. The Human Resources person is then able to filter and sort applicants and likely contacts only the highest scoring individuals to go further in the hiring process. My only advice here is to be sure that you meet the posted qualifications and that you completely and correctly fill out the application. The secret to getting in to a large hotel is to befriend someone who already works there. Many hotels offer cash bonuses to employers who refer friends and family for jobs. With $200-500 on the line, your friend also becomes and advocate who will follow up for you. You may find better results applying to work at smaller hotels, motels, or bread and breakfast type places. These may have less rigid application processes and you may even be able to go in person and make the connection this way. Good luck!
