Optical Dispensing: How is the career outlook in NYC? Wher can I take courses for certification?

I am sure that NYC is a wonderful place for an optical dispensing career. Most people wear some form of vision correction, and with such a large population, it is sure to be in high demand. Certification from the American Board of Opticianry and the National Contact Lens Examiners can take some time...the tests are rather difficult with no prior optical experience, and are only offered in May and November. A lot of optical employers prefer their opticians to be certified, yet if you have no prior experience, some will teach you hands-on. I would just stress your desire to learn the field, and to obtain your certification. Some states also require their opticians to be licensed, I am not sure about NY. Best of luck to you!
