Any advice on how to get job experience as a Health and Safety advisor?

I wanted a change in career and started going to college.However, does anyone know where I can get advice and job experience as a health and safety advisor in the UK?

Maybe a local job agency could help as a lot of employers use them for recruitment. That's how the Health and Safety manager at my work place found his job, and I went through same agency for mine (different area of the business) so it worked for us.-) Good luck.

Sorry, but the LAST thing we need in the UK is more H&S advisors. They suck the life out of everything - you can do better than this.

Try ringing your local council's health and safety department. Some one may be willing to talk to you also ask them if they will accept you to do works experience.

it's easier to get into it via the workplace. a larger company like NHS, local government, construction etc. or any ligit company with a largish workforce, have to have trained H&S people. it would be easy to become an advisor/inspector with this grounding!
