Is a job as an Accounts Payable Clerk a good entry-level job?
Asked by lostandconfused
Would there be opportunities to move up in a company if I start out as an A/P clerk? And, is this job a decent one for a person who doesn't like to talk to people too much? I'm so confused. I want a job where I can work on the computer all day, maybe like a data entry job or something, but I don't know how to find it or what companies I should look into. I hope working is not as terrible as my job search. I suck at this. :(

I was an A/P clerk for awhile in a construction company. Eventually I was promoted up the ladder to Contract Administrator. As far as not talking to people, you will have tons of contact with people because a good part of A/P is sorting out problems with invoices before you pay them so if you don't like to talk to people, I'm not sure this is the right type of job.

any accounting jobs are great for a long run...every business need accounting dept and either you gain experience as account payable or receivable you can always find a job. good luck!
