Stable decent job or Return for more Education?
Asked by singlechick26
Ive got a secure stable job in a school district as a custodian with benefits and decent pay ( $12.62/hour) . I've been offerd a grant to cover me to go back to school to be a paralegal. the school will be paid for and its a Associate program thats approved by the American Barr Association. I will have to quit my good job to go back, because the classes are at night ( when i wrok ). is it worth the risk of the job to get educated and learn a new skill??
i meant " is it worth sacrificing the good job.." not " is it worth the risk of the new job" sorry

Absolutely! It's a good offer, take it.
An education is a long-term investment, which will put you in better jobs. It will also give you a lot of self-respect. Money is not everything. There are learning years and earning years. It is generally not a good idea to prioritize work before education. It is like putting the cart before the horse.
Peace and blessings!

The only answer to this question is YES! If anyone tells you otherwise they are not well-informed. Our world is becoming increasingly more expensive and complex. It is absolutely in your best long-term interest to get as much education as you possibly can. Many studies have been done and they consistently show a 4-year college degree is worth $1,000,000 - ON AVERAGE. This means, with a college degree, you are likely to earn over $1,000,000 more in your career than someone who only has a high school diploma.
But, the icing on your cake is getting 2 years of your schooling paid FOR FREE! Honey, that is better than buying ANY lottery ticket. This is as close to a sure thing as you will ever find. I don't usually give such direct advise because people need to think about their lives for themselves. But, when it comes to education, you have so much to lose if you don't take advantage of every opportunity I cannot help but be so bold. YOU NEED TO GET OVER TO THE SCHOOL TOMORROW AND SIGN UP FOR THAT PROGRAM. Please!
Best of luck. If you stick with it, I know you won't regret it.

I would recommend it highly! But, be aware that there are daytime paralegal classes available at some ABA Approved schools...maybe you can do both?
