Can I still fit in the Analytical Chem Ind?
Asked by LAURA H
Grad 8yrs ago with a chem degree. Had 3mths intern in pharmaceutical and has worked ever since as a banker/junior accountant/admin sec. How easy is it going to be to land that entrylevel job in Analytical Chem. Ve forgotten a couple of things I learnt in school but I can still freshen up by reading books but am wondering if any Pharma company will be willing to employ me with my diversed work exp, very little pharma exp. and also not fresh from school.

Tough. The material hasn't changed, but the mentality has. I guess you haven't done much combinatorial chemistry which is the main trick for synthetic chemists. Look for QC or QA jobs at various companies- they'll look to hire former chemists.
