Is it important for a math major to take a few courses in Chemistry?
Asked by keithsfca84kg
I want to get a job in Math, perhaps research or some sort of problem solving. Would courses in Chemistry be important to take or are Chemistry and Math jobs unrelated?

I think it would be worthwhile for a few reasons. Since there is a lot of Mathematics in chemistry I think it would help someone develop an appreciation for the application of math, and not just math theory. It helps people realize why math works, and not just take it as a given that it does. You would get a larger educational base, which makes you more marketable when you look for a job. Especially if you do well in something that is considered to be a more difficult subject, like chemistry. Of course I find chemistry fascinating, so I am biased.
