How much should I be paid as a nanny in Rochester Hills, MI?

I have been a nanny for over a year with the same family, but they recently told me they had to let me go for financial reasons ( the mother is no longer working) I have 10+ yrs experience with child care, a Bachelors degree in Psych, and medical experince. I am 25 yrs old. I am currently being paid $550/wk. I just got offered a new job with a family comsisting of a set of year old twins and a 3 year old. They have never had a nanny before ( only daycares). Would it be too much to ask for more money? ( about $600-650/wk) I feel like I have been doing this long enough, have much experience, am well educated and I cant ever make more money. the mother of the new family is a doctor that works 5 days a week and currently hase her children in day care 5 days a week. I called the day care and asked what the average tution would be for 3 kids under 3, five days a week. they said about $700, but they could be a family plan discount that might apply (but the worker did not know with out speaking to her manager first)

600 a week sounds fair. Also, how many children were in the first family? If that family had less children that naturally, you should charge more. If the mother complains about the price then I would present her with the information of how much it would cost a daycare and that you are actually saving them 100 a week.

I'm sorry, but I give people like you credit for wanting to be a nanny. I wouldnt want to be a nanny. It might seem like a relaxing job, but I would prefer to work in an office and feel productive.
