What can i say to better explain to my supervisor why i need to keep email rule to auto delete?
Asked by ~ESSIE~
i have a email rule that auto deletes emails i dont need to read. they are not pertaining to my region that i am in charge over. 2 people at work found out and they think its a bad idea. But it doesnt affect them at all. Now my supervisor asked me to change the rule back. i dont wanna do it beucase it saves a whole lot of time to not have to read thru and delete these useless emails. the 2 people think its bad cuz Just-in-Case an email comes across with the keyword i might miss it.... she thinks its better to be safe then sorry. but ive had this email rule set in for over a year now[unbeknownst to them] and this Just-in-Case situation has never arose.i want to know how i can better explain to supervisor that its not such a bad idea.?? hope i explained this well for ya...

Outlook has a very limited amount of Inbox space. So, explain that you are deleting unessesary emails in order to make sure you get the necessary one. Or, you could make a file in your "Archive folders" section and have them automatically routed to that file and they do not count toward your inbox limit and you can delete the contents of the file daily.

Your supervisor asked you to do so. You won't be able to convince him/her that it saves "a whole lot of time", when everyone knows it only takes a second to delete your whole mailbox. Choose your battles, and this one isn't it.

Just change it back. It really isn't a huge issue and I agree with the first answer, choose your battles, this one isn't worth it. It makes you look uncooperative and difficult to work with if you go any further with it.

Really, honestly. What's the big deal!
This is such a trivial matter. your supervisor made a request. Just do it. OK?
