Which route should i take to become an electrician?
Asked by karendumer@btinternet.com
I am currently working full time as a chef and would like to (due to the unsociable hours etc) look into a career change. I have always fancied becoming an electrician and am currently on the hunt for a relevant training course but there are so many that i am unsure as to which one would be best. Could any electricians out there please give me some advice as to which qualifications are more useful than others.. City and Guilds 2330 or 2381? I am in my thirties so dont have a lot of time left on my hands lol..

being a electrician myself, the only way is through a adult training scheme. you will need work as electrician for around two years with going to college 1 day a week. pay for this will be about £7-8 but when out of your time pay is from £11.60 up to £20 (self employed) you can make Very good money visit you local college for the best course for you

Best way is to become an apprentice. Ring around all the electrical firms in your area. Colleges are always good for electrical courses and they quite often run in the evenings. Talk to them too.
