I am studying for my CCNA qualification-I have recently got a job in It?
Asked by bukowski
As a network operations center technician-the problem is that apart from backing up data servers I am not getting any experience with Routers or Switches-should I give up the job and search for something else? Or is any IT experience valid to getting my chosen vocation of a Network Engineer.

I would say stick with what your doing for now, you have to start somewhere... most places will not put you in charge of switches and router right out of the gate, you need some experience first, and maybe with enough time doing backups where you are now they'll increase your responsibility. If you don't get the experience you are looking for after a few months, then maybe it's time to move on.
I happen to be training for my CCNA and other technical certs as well.
