Career Questions and Answers

I <3 my boys
I live in Indiana and can't find a job and afford child care. Any ideas on which career path I should take
Asked by I <3 my boys
I have been in college for 2 years. I have two small children. Every place I go to (for a job interview) wants to pay me like 7/hr. Are you kidding me?!?! Child care for JUST MY INFANT is 140/wk! How do people do it?!? My husband makes between 75-85k a year. So I can't get assistance. I want to get into the work field (and please no "you should stay at home with your children" lectures.) I am independant and I find pride in contributing to my family as well. And I think my children need interaction with other kids in a structured environment. I am going to school for Business...where can I go to get a decent job????? I live in the NW part of the state. My husband brings home almost about 1500 weekly but why would I work and not make extra income b/c I am paying out the @$$ for childcare? That is why I want a good paying job so I can afford child care on my paycheck alone. I dont have to work, I WANT to. I am tired of being at home. Plus I just moved here from another town (I am 300 mi. from "home") I want to interact with other adults and work. It is hard to set up mom meetings or whatever when I dont know anyone.

Well you can thank all the illegals for taking all the jobs and you can thank asia (china, india, etc) for taking away most of the middle class jobs.

Are you kidding me? Your husband makes like $1500 a week, and you can't afford child care and such? My god - I was doing all that on half his pay. I think you guys need to do a hard evaluation of your current expenses and determine where you are being frivolous, and tack down on true needs and not just wants. Crimey - people have to make due on far less - like 1/3 of that to squeak by.

Perhaps you could combine your business education with your need for childcare to fill a need for services for busy moms. You could hold an arts and crafts program and serve a snack for just a few hours each day after school, start a personal shopper/errand service for moms who wouldn't have time to shop or run their errands, or start a pickup service, picking up and dropping off children before and after school.

Have you ever thought of doing a home based business, like direct sales? This let's you be a stay at home mom, but still get out a few nights a week/month and have the financial dependency you want! There are soooo many different direct sales companies out there with most averaging $150-$200 profit an evening (usually only about 2 1/2 hours of work) and you can work as little or as much as you would like. If you would like more information here are 2 companies that I personally can tell you about www.liasophia.com/shawn or www.kidsbooks4free.com. Good luck with your search!

Becky- I have a home-business that has helped me bring money home while helping people. I open for accounts for people to purchase Naturally-based products from an Wholesale Wellness on-line store. I help them save money while getting non-toxic products into their homes. In the last two years, I have helped numerous familes with aliments ranging from ezcema to allegries. If you have about 40 mins, I can explain to you how you can make $1000 by referring 10 families to my company. Melalady@optonline.net http://gallos.momsmakemom.com

I agree with you about the children and as an intelligent women you need interaction with other adults as well. If it were me I would #1 Look inside myself and see what turns me on and look for a Home Based that I could use my communication skills and energy. Then I would start to learn how to market that. If indeed you would like to continue conversing with me I'm happy to do that. There is no JOB that will pay you what your worth right now. Feel free to respond to my email. I have no agenda but some good Ideas.

Hi, I believe that an internet business would be a great way to go and you can make a lot of new friends that way. I am a single mom of 3 and I started my own business so I could stay at home with my children through the summer months. The program I started was absolutely free to join and the income potential is endless. If you would be interested in joining for free and just trying it out for awhile just email me and I can tell you more about it. It was the best opportunity that I ever took advantage of and I know that it could help you pay daycare and more. Hope to hear from you soon, J.O.
