Asking a human resource contact to help find a job at a different office?
Asked by JobSeeker101
I have been in contact with a human resource contact at this advertising agency in NYC. She told me to keep in touch with her and she will let me know if an opportunity comes up at the agency. Well, I decided that I am switching my search from NYC to San Francisco which they have an office there as well. Is it ok to ask her to set me up with another contact over in San Francisco? And if it is, how would I ask her?

Just ask! Give her a call and let her know that you're heading to San Fran... Mention that you understand they have an office there, and "is she the HR rep for that office as well? No? Who would you recommend I speak with there, as I'm still interested in working for your agency. Do you know of anything available in San Fran? Thanks so much for all of your help, and I'll let you know how everything goes!" Make sense? Good luck!
