Will I be able to keep a manufacturing job?

I know how the manufacturing industry is struggling, but If I got hired into a manufacturing job, and I do good, Will they still keep me or will I become a victim of the u.s. manufacturing fall down? I know it is kinda impossible to say, but from peoples past experiences, what might happen?

wow.... good question and my pass experiences....I was R&D tech.... to make a long story short... higher positions in manufacturing last longer and with no lay offs ... but on their company meetings avery quarter you can predict the forecast on the lay offs better ( just look at the quarter sales and the expected out come) once you start seein a fall then you can start worring about your job. depending on your position
the real fact is that more and more companys are sending the manufacturing to china were they pay like .50cents per hr ( i think )
in realty when company's start making alot of money they out soure the manufaturing

Job security is a rare commodity nowadays. The only thing you can do is do the best job you can. Keep yourself up on the latest trends in your field. Do what you can within reason to keep up your value to the company, like take on extra projects or further your education.
Usually, if a company is fixing to move or close, there will be signs in advance, such as experienced hands training more than their fair share of new employees or paychecks not on time every week. Then, start looking for work somewhere else.
