I'd like to get an executive assistant position in the Philadelphia area. Any ideas?
Asked by jillshines
I've checked on Philly.com and monster. Any other ideas? I've got a lot of adminstrative experience and at least most of the qualifications - I'd just like to work for a nice person in a normal company.

Craigslist and Indeed are good sites to browse. If you know of a company you may want to work for, go to their site and search their career section. Good luck!

Admittedly, I don't have that much experience. Aren't most "executive assistant" positions filled by promoting secretaries from inside the company? I don't think there are specific skills/certifications that make someone a candidate for EA jobs. I doubt that you would find mcuh on job boards if you enter that particular phrase into thesearch engine. If you have exceptional experience with some particular industry, maybe you could try sending your resume, unsolicited, to several companies you know are in that same industry, with a cover letter where you highlight your unique qualification to be an Assistant to some Executive.

It seems if you're looking on job boards, you'd be more likely to find this sort of position on careerbuilder.com. Just what I've noticed from looking for similar positions across the country. Also, try the websites of individual companies...many these days post their openings on a job openings or career opportunities page on their website.
