Learn to speak Spanish and become a Mining Engineer – this is the most assured way to enter the mining industry in South America. The current minerals boom is creating an international shortage of mining engineers and metallurgical/mineral processing engineers. Earning a college degree in one of these professions pretty much guarantees you a job in the mining industry. Alternatively you can study geology or environmental engineering with focus on mining. Been there. Done that.
