How much do physical therapist get paid?
Asked by lonewolfshel
I'm just wondering what would a Physical Therapist make right out of college with a masters or a doctors degree? I'm going to a community college to get my prerequisits out of the way before I transfer and start my medical school. Also would anyone know what someone who majors in sports medicine makes a year? Thanks for any answers!

Back in 2005, the APTA did a survery that revealed that most PTs (about 50%) were earning between $50-70,000 a year. Similarly, PT magazie also did a survery revealing that the average new grad earned about $42,000 a year. It does not matter if you have your MS or DPT. Your salary will be more influenced by your experience, region (west coast is the highest, southeast the lowest) and any speciality certifications you hold. If you hope to work in sports med...I'd recommend completing a specialty certification after you've been in the field at least a couple years...that market is very competitive. Good luck.
