How can I be a better cashier?
Asked by SN
I know that I shouldn't even be doing it because I don't like it and, in my opinion, am not very good at it since I really relent counting at speed, but as long as I'm here, does anyone have any tips to becoming a better cashier? Meaning...counting faster and doing anything smoothly?

I think that the best tip is...just forget that you don't enjoy it and concentrate on the customer that is before you...think that it is nice to see different people and that your smile on your face can give joy to others. Take time to count their money so as not to make a mistake ...and use the following expressions with that smile...
1. hello, good morning/afternoon/evening
2., Have a nice ...day
thank you frequently....and be pleasant when giving an answer to a question and polite when asking a question....
If you don't concentrate on negatives ...the positive will reign....
good Luck

There are self-study courses on Cashiering which you can take. Check with Barnes & Noble and other bookstores.
