Well. I'm an Occupational Therapist and i can tell you that there are many things that OT's do but the essence of it is that they help people to live independently and successfully in their environments after an illness, injury or even within the 'normal setting'. One can work in hospitals, schools, prisons, work settings and day centres. I currently work in a mental health setting. And if money is your concern, whilst OT's are better paid than nurses, if you want to make money don't join the health services.

I had one following a stroke and basically she made sure that I could manage when I went home. Checked I could make a drink and prepare food and wash -checked if I needed any rails around the house ...stuff like that. Dont know about pay but hope that helps a bit

An occupational therapist, helps people back into their home, and uses specialist training programmes to help people. Visit this website for more details http://www.prospects.ac.uk/cms/ShowPage/Home_page/Explore_types_of_jobs/Types_of_Job/p!eipaL?state=showocc&pageno=1&idno=114 Why not? - ring up your local hospital and ask if you would be able to go on work experience with an occupational therapist, it will give a better insight into the job and will look great on your application.

I'm not sure what Edith is talking about, but you can make a lot of money in OT. I am an occupational therapist assistant and work in a skilled nursing facility. All over the country they are in desperate need of OTs. My site is looking to hire for $40 an hour FT. Nurses can make more, but nursing is a tough job and involves a lot shift changes
