What should I wear for an administrative assistant interview?
Asked by skyofsilence
There's this administrative assistant position on a university campus career center. What should I wear for the interview? I'm a male. Do I have to wear a suit? Can I just wear nice dress pants, shirt and a tie instead? And what should I bring? A notebook folder for my resume or a shoulder bag? I like your answers, I'm real nervous so if u have more advice and detailed tips on what I should or ahouldn't do PLEASE TELL ME! It's my first job in the real world after college. ok, some of u are saying i need to wear a suit. do i take it off for the interview or leave it on?

A suit isn't necessary for this, but if you have one that's appropriate, why not impress them? Also, I think a business portfolio is best, but maybe that's the same as a notebook folder. A shoulder bag may not make the right impression at a university if students commonly use them as book bags.

A:
A suit and your resume no shoulder bag just the smallest folder that will hold a resume, no decorations on folder like a peeche but plain.

Wear something low key not too flashy or tight. Maybe a nice pair of pants and a nice shirt and tie.

Wear a suit. No danger of being overdressed for an interview. Carry your papers in a zipper type attache' case. They are looking for a professional person.

I think you can never over dress for an interview. It will show them that you really care about the position. But if the weather is too hot, I think you can get by with a shirt and tie. I think a notebook folder would be good because it looks more organized.
