A good leader...
...creates good leaders. He/she sets expectations, offers education and opportunity to others, and helps them become good leaders too.
... has integrity and sets a tone of integrity in the organization.
... gives his/her people the direction, goals and the tools to get the job done and then he/she gets out of their way.
... leads by inspiration, not by demands, threats, coercion or manipulation. He/she also never takes the glory - a good leader passes all accolades on to others.
... is firm and fair. Firm enough to cut deadwood from the org (no matter how well the person is liked) but fair enough to give everyone every chance possible before making a judgment for or against.
