What chances do I have of getting hired at the new Honda plant in Greensburg, Indiana?
Asked by Indiana FIJI
I will be graduating from a small private university in the spring of 2008. My degree will be in Business Administration. What are the chances of me being hired at this new plant? I've decided this is where I want to start my life. I have no automotive experience, but I am ready to start anywhere on the line to gain that experience. Any thoughts?

Your odds would be a heck of a lot better if you had an engineering degree. Your odds would be a lot better if you could show them on an application that you are a current student at ITT tech or someplace showing you're studying something in the physical sciences, like electronics. I found, upon graduating college, that a lot of times the degree actually hurts you really bad. Some places don't want to hire you because they assume you want a high salary and you won't stay working for them if your degree isn't directly related to what they do. Don't expect to make much use of your degree for a Japanese company. I know a lot of employees at Honda in Anna and Marysville, Ohio, and trust me, ALL of their management is controlled by the Japanese. You can't move up far in management in a Japanese company with a business degree, so don't plan on it. That's the bad news. The good news is, if you can get hired, you're pretty set with a decent job for life......but........they will work you hard and you will have to make sacrifices when the company demands them. It's their way or the highway. If you can accept that from the start, then it's a pretty good place to work.
I have a lot of Honda employee friends
