Can anyone help me with my covering letter for the position of sales assistant?

I need to write a covering letter for the position of sales assistant in a shop like republic, blacks, shotts, o'neill etc. Its my first time applying for a job properly so I would like a really good example!
P.S. I just left school and haven't received my GCSE results!

Go to yahoo search bar and type in Sample Cover letters for Sales Assistants...and check out the samples and apply the basics to your experience or class courses and why you are interested in this particular position.
on the top left of your cover letter you put the date, skip two spaces down and type your first and last name.
under your name, type your full address, and your telephone number and email if you have one.
Skip two lines and type in the person's full name and company's full address. Skip two lines and address the person or agency as such:
If you do not know the persons name of whom you are addressing, then type in Attention Hiring Personnel Department. Skip two lines and introduce yourself and state your letter of interest.
Let them know why you are interested in the open position and let them know that you are a fast learner, sharp, willing to be trained, and get along well with co-workers and Supervisors and have no problems with being asked to do something in regards to your position.
Make sure your letter is in a positive light, don't sound to needy, but don't under sell yourself either. Make sure you state your interest clearly and leave a contact number so that they can reach you.
Use your Teachers as professional references.
