Would the CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) credential be good to have?
Asked by jlr27t
I was just curious, I work as a Staff Accountant for a hospital. Would something else be better to have? I was told before to only pursue credentials that "allow" you to do something such as CPA, CIA, etc. vs credentials that are for education use only.

I believe that a person holding a certification as a Fraud Examiner would be in demand due to the specialty service they could provide. While I was taking my Business Tax course the subject came up and the professor seemed to think it was a great field. Any education you get is worthwhile and not wasted. Since you are already a staff accountant I am sure you can see the value of the certification.

I think the professional credentials to have for a Accountant would be (in order of course) 1 - CPA (by a wide margin) 2 - CMA 3 - CIA The CFE and the CFP would both be good only in conjunction with a CPA (my opinion)
