How can I do well as a retail clothing store employee?
Asked by Yippee
I just recently got a job at a retail clothing store for teenagers. I'm 16, and they said they like bubbly people working there. How should I act towards the customers?

Smile! Approach each customer and say Hi. Make some kind of chatter - isn't it a nice day? what a cute kid? and ask if you can assist with anything. If addressed by older customers, call them Ma'am and Sir. Compliment the clothing they are already wearing - people like to think they have good taste. Don't follow them around. Remember, nothing they ask is too much trouble. And for you, be on time, and dress in the kinds of clothes you are selling, if you can. Depends on where you work, but no low necks, no really low rise jeans, no underwear showing, no outrageous makeup, blue nails, etc.
Worked in retail for many years.
