Does the OHST certification help much in getting a job?
Asked by billygoat
Considering taking the OHST, BS geology, 17 years in environmental field, a large part in Industrial Hygiene with asbestos, lead, mold, and safety monitoring at construction and plant sites. Want to focus more on the safety side.

While the OHST certification certainly doesn't hurt, with your extensive experience in health and safety you may want to consider working towards a CSP, CIH, and/or CHMM (if applicable) instead. All 3 of these certifications are better known, more recognized, and have more stringent requirements than the OHST. If you continue to work in the environmental field (especially environmental remediation), a PG license (if you don't already have one) is more valuable and necessary than any of these certifications.
