Career move help: choosing between two positions?
Asked by Vianka
I have to choose between two positions: 1. A position at my current company in a different dept. I currently work in accounting and the new position is in IT and deals with databases and data analysis. I'd be working directly with the owner's daughter and the CFO/CIO. My degree is in business information systems and I've always dreamed of getting a job closer to this field of work. 2. A position in the accounting dept. as an accounting assistant with a new company. The new company is much smaller, but a lot more established. In this position I would be working directly with the Controller and learning more about the functions of the accounting dept. I would also help with some HR stuff. This new company is also 1.5 miles from my home (although I rent and this could eventually change) and the environment is very beautiful. The decision is difficult because I already accepted the job at the new place, but my current company is trying to keep me by offering me a new position. The position at my current company is an entirely different position in a new department. I was an A/P clerk in the accounting dept., but I hated it and want a more interesting and challenging position doing work more related to my degree.
