Will drinking violations and misdemenors affect an aviation career?
Asked by Nonobaseball07
Alright I am currently majoring in flight operations and am hoping to be hired by either an airline or corporation after college. However, last year, right after I joined the aviation department, I was charged with a public intox and put on probation for a deferred judgement on disorderly conduct. Recently once again I was at a college party after a baseball game and the cops came and gave me a Paula (possesion of alcohol under the legal age) for blowing a .06. This new charge technically broke my probation bringing back the deferred judgement on my record now. These three charges are all misdemenors however my question is, are these charges going to affect my aviation career and possibly cause me to not be able to be hired by an airline or a corporation...any answers help just wondering what other peoples takes were on it???

Best Answer:
They could, I'd quit drinking period. Stay on the straight and narrow and in the future you can call it 'youthful indiscretion' that you have put behind you. Major corporations frown on hiring drunken pilots and their insurance companies will take a hard look at those little misdemeanors. Stay sober to fly and good luck.

A:
All violations and misdemenors will affect any jobs you apply.
