TRUCKERS PLEASE HELP!! truck driver question: where do you park your tractor/truck on your days/time off?
Asked by xfileaddict1969
i'm in training for my CDL as i write this. after completing all training/getting licensed and heading out, the company i plan on working for has the driver take the truck/tractor home. I live in a townhome and townhome association rules say no way! i spoke with a local grocer who says they won't allow it. There is a local menards, walmart, and target in the same area as the grocer. The police in this town LOVE giving tickets. What options do i have? Should i just park it in a local lot and hope for the best since at most it will be there only 36-48 hours tops?

Hi, First of all congrats on your choice of career. As far as parking it anywhere will not do. You must get approval from whomever owns the lot where you want to park or you can receive a major fine and possibly end up with the truck being towed and impounded. Not only will that cost you a small fortune but will also get you in trouble with your company to the point where they could fire you for it. How far are you from your company? If close enough you could leave it there and drive your personal vehicle back and forth when home. The company I worked for had a place that was secure for drivers to leave their vehicles while on the road. Is there a truck-stop close by? Some truck-stop will allow you to leave your truck there for a couple of days while home. Maybe a friend that lives just out of town? Good luck to you....
