Who does medical billing and coding or healthcare insurance billing?
Asked by lalagirly
I am thinking about going into health insurance and medical billing. Is this a lucrative field? I heard it can be done at home as well. Would like more info.

Just my opinion - I don't do it, but have a little knowledge of it. It is alot of work. There are many rules to all the different insurance companies. I would suggest maybe medical transcription. My friend does it and makes alot of money. She took a course at a local college and works at home transcribing for an orthopedic group. Be careful of alot of the places offering to learn medical billing at home. My sister-in-law paid a few hundred dollars to buy a program and it stinks. It basically justs gives you sample letters to send to the doctors to get your business. Waste of money. I would suggest that if you are interested in doing it, to see if a local college has some classes to take; instead of wasting your money on a scam. But whatever you decide, good luck!
