I feel like I have wasted my 20's trying to conform to be something that I am not. I've tried getting jobs like regular people and working like regular people, but I continued to quit them because I continued to hate my life having them. I'm an artistic person. Love to write, sing, and to just create in general. I've decided to go back to school, so that I won't be an unskilled laborer anymore just taking what ever dead end low paying job I can get. I'm majoring in education. Yet my passions are still burning in me to create something and to move freely as an artist. I want to establish my own business. But can't cause I have bad credit and no money, I know that doesn't come as a surprise! But actually my credit just got bad this year. I'm going to somehow work my way out of the bad credit thingy. But the establishing my own business thing I don't know how to do it. Plus until it's established and while I'm in college I still need a gig to help me get buy and out of debt. I'm thinking of buying a guitar and finding some kind of club/lounge to play and sing in. Yes I'm old as heck 27, but I feel like I'm finding me. So I lost it, I'm finding me now what do you think about the guitar thingy. I'll have to buy a guitar and get lessons, but at least my spirit will be happy. Don't ask how will I buy a guitar and pay for lessons where there's a will there is always away. I'll take other suggestion into consideration. NOT! Oh, and could you please answer my other open questions, THANX! I don't want to be a productive member of Society. I want to be me. Do what I do not what you do. Have you ever felt passionate about something and not so passionate about other things well then.

Hey some people take a whole life time to find out who they want to be. I think you have the right mind set but just don’t know how to get there. You might just need some motivation. Money: Ok I can openly admit it as well I'm sure 99.9% of the people in this world do not like their jobs. But, a job is a job, it pays the bills, it puts a roof over our head and food in our mouths. Don't sell yourself short and work at MC Donald’s (sorry for the folks that do) but do find something that is reasonable and work till you can support yourself enough to save some funds. Set a goal: Goals can take from a day or two to years or decades to accomplish. As an artist, you have all this creativity and passion that is built naturally inside you that you should not let it diminish. Have a journal/sketch pad and write down all the artwork and images in your head that you wish to draw or paint. That helps you keep a mental note of it so you can come back to it later on. As a retired artist myself, well more like a fell artist, I know how it feels to want to express something in my mind but can't draw it out on paper just quite yet. Get some friends: You are not alone in the starving artist industry. Many people want to make it in this world and I'm sure they are more then happy to help a fellow artist out. Join some groups there are usually some at your local art galleries and start networking and meeting other artists. They can usually give you information on up coming gigs and were to go. Don’t give up: An artist is the one person who gives up the most effort and receives nearly nothing in return other then to see enjoyment from people. Well unless you are famous which you would be filthy rich, which I’m sure you will be someday. Keep your chin up and stay motivated, we need more passionate artist out there.

Why not get a job and do the "artistic thing" as a hobby? That way you will be a productive member of society.

You need to stop looking for everyone's approval on everything you do! Listen to yourself... "what do you think about the guitar thing?" you know you love music, and you love expressing yourself. This is what happens with people like us, artistic people that is... All of our lives they say, you can't make any money painting (or whatever) and then you end up trying to please everyone elses ideal lifestyle. I think you should meet with a financial advisor and talk about owning your own business. Watch The Big Idea on CNN at 10pm every night, its a show that helps people see how to start their own business.

Yes, I feel this way all the time. but I have other mouths to feed and I am a single parent. Don't push your dreams aside, you just have to learn to be more creative and figure out how you plan on paying for stuff if you do not work. Suggest your talents to local compaines sometimes you can get paid that way. Concentrate on that degree that will earn you money after you do find yourself.
