Is there currently an industry demand for saturation divers in the offshore sector?
Asked by Ryan
I currently work in the pipeline and process sector of the offshore industry, however I have become increasingly interested in saturation diving. I am aware at the length of time (and money) it takes to train so I am looking for a current diver or employer to say that there is actually a requirement for more saturation divers if at all possible - thanks

As you are already involved in the industry can you not ask round and make contacts?Someone may be able to point you in the right direction.
Incidentally, watched an excellent programme a couple of weeks ago in the "Real Men" series on BBC1. The first prog. was about saturation divers. The company involved had a ship, complete with diving bell and were contracted by different oil companies to maintain their undersea equipment. Alas, can`t remember the name of the company.
If the prog. is repeated, watch it, fascinating.
