What should a new supervisor do in this group home?
Asked by Speed, Madness, Flying Saucers
I just started a job as a supervisor in a group home for MR adult males.
Immediately, once on line, I saw that the GH would not pass a medicaid audit, at least 3 staff are having their wages garnished and one managed to get a ticket for driving with a suspended license before having her 3rd car repossed last Saturday.
My supervisor is nepotistic in that she hired her slutty niece to be an overnight. The supervisor herself sem-resides at the GH because she and her daughter live in a two room, unairconditioned former motel, and as if that isn't enough, while the 5 residents are away at their day program, the supervisor lets her clueless sister with 5 young children (she has an additional five that are grown, I kid you not) not only hang at the house, but eat some of the food.
This is just what I can think of right now. On a scale of one to ten, how badly have I stepped in doo doo with these curious people who live on the fringes of respectability and professionalism?

It sounds like you need to turn around and RUN out the door. I'm not even going to try and convince you to be a HERO.
