Oilfield Industry? How much do they pay?
Asked by pinkmkcurlz
My significant other is looking into working for an inland oilfield as an equipment operator/dot driver. I was wondering about they average pay for working in this industry. He has to have a Class A CDL with N and X endorsements ( hazmat and tanker). Does anyone out here know what they make, or possibly work for an oilfield service and can let me know what the pay is? And what the job duties consist of, hours, days, per diem pay, any info would be helpful. Thanks!!!

Depending on the region, probably about 16 dollars an hour or so. Here's a couple of job descriptions. I dont know about per diem but this is usually a 5 or 6 day a week job. An 8 or 10 hour working day, daylight hours. The oilfield is always a cyclical business. But, I think the well services business is going to be in pretty good demand with all the wells that have been drilled in the last few years.
