I'm not sure about the education requirements, but according to PayScale.com, the median salary for a Commercial Construction Estimator is $53,661. Salaries will vary depending on your location and experience, as well as other factors. An estimator spends a lot of time checking bid prices, and plugging them into spreadsheets or programs that calculate the total cost of the Construction project will be. These are subject to revision as the actually project progresses, so the estimator may need to calculate how much the changes will cost as the project goes along. The 53K salary is about right.
The more specific construction management training and course work in estimating, the better. I'm not certain of certification requirements.
