What kind of physical labor do you encounter as a roughneck at an oil platform?
Asked by athenaze1
I mean to ask, how strenous is the labor. A friend described it as being like a professional athlete. I am, however, skeptical of this. How quickly does one adapt to such circumstances if coming from a sedentary job? Thanks in advance.

It's brutal. It's an oil derrick, for goodness sake. If you can't run 2-3 miles right now, today, don't apply.

I'd figure that you'll have to lift some stuff. Turning valves with huge wrenches and stuff. Lifting /connecting pipelines.
