What kind of a market is there for a personal trainer in your area? how many gyms/health centers are there? Those are the place you would find employment in your area. If the answer is few then those are you chances of getting employment in this field.

I'm not sure of the job prospects these days for a Personal Trainer. I have seen programs which include the certificate level to the bachelor degree level (typically exercise physiology or exercise science), master's as well as the doctorate (ph.d.) degree level. Please just steer clear of those 'online schools' such as penn foster, stratford career and university of phoenix as employers don't usually see them as reputable. A local community college may offer a certificate or associate's degree program. Here is a website for general info: www.bls.gov/oco and can type into search 'personal trainer', 'exercise physiologist' or such. And perhaps as the other postee suggested, you can call some local health spas and find out about the education and training of their personal trainers. I'm sure that such a job requires the person to have a passion for health and physical fitness.
