how do I break into a medical billing/ coding career?
Asked by foxydiva909
I wanted to know the best way of going about getting my foot in the door of the medical or insurance billing/ coding field? I'm from CA and have a felony (drug) so I wanted to know if that would be a problem. Also if anyone has any info on the annual income it brings in?

I would advise you to look into training classes at academic colleges. That is what I did. I went to a business/technical school and now I work in the billing/coding profession. It took me a total of about 9 months to finish my courses. I wouldn't think having a felony would be a problem as long as it has been a few years without any charges. Although I am not the one going to be hiring you and everyone feels different. Annual income is going to vary depending on the city you live in and the cost of living. Like CA is going to pay more than TN is going to pay.
